And I feel you, because honestly? I was asking myself the same thing for a while.

WHY does this ad campaign to cold traffic that breaks all the “rules” of selling high ticket offers work so damn well?

Because I’m not doing all that crap that people say you “have” to do to woo high-ticket, done-for-you buyers. I’m not:[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

  • Serving them up a ton of content before I ever make an offer.
  • Busting my ass creating a ton of content nobody cares about.
  • Offering a bunch of free stuff to try to prove my worth.
  • Warming up my ads’ audiences for weeks or months before making an ask.
  • Spending $$ on advertising a low-ticket offer in the hopes that I can upsell people to my high end stuff.
  • Spending hours doing custom audits or writing custom proposals.
  • Reading from icky sales scripts or trying to go for the hard close on the call.
  • Following up 72 times to try to close the sale.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]I’m not doing any of that shit and I’m closing more business, more regularly than I ever have in my 5 years of business.

How?

I’m being authentic as fuck.

But we need a better word than “authentic”

OK, so I know that every guru out there in a certain corner of the internet is telling us we need to be more “authentic” — which is why I almost don’t want to use that word. It’s been co-opted by people who think authentic means telling your “rags to riches” sob story or having a perfectly curated Instagram feed of your “really real” life.

It kind of makes me want to vomit.

That’s not the kind of authenticity I’m talking about. This is NOT your mother’s “personal brand.”

What I realized is that when I stopped trying to make myself look “business-y,” when I stopped trying to polish off my rough edges, when I stopped trying to fit into the box everybody else thought I should be in — people sat up and listened.

Look, I am #extraAF.  All my friends know it, and I don’t apologize for that shit. (Hence the reason I said fuck in like the third sentence of this article. #somuchjoy) 

But I was trying to tone some of that down when it came to my business. I was trying to fit myself into what everybody else thought I should be.

And when I stopped doing that? 

My results blew up. 

Because here’s some #realtalk: My funnel (such as it is) isn’t that groundbreaking. My ads strategy isn’t really that new. My landing page is awesome, but it isn’t some fancy new technology or dancing hamsters to get people excited. My emails are well written, but loads of people can write a good email.

The difference is really about what I’m saying and how. 

Know, like, and trust works — and you can’t manufacture it.

We all know that old marketing adage that people have got to know, like, and trust you in order to buy from you.

So we’ve jumped through all these hoops and put all this glitter and spackle on ourselves to try to manufacture that.

And — while I’m all for glitter in general — we’re just turning out plastic unicorn poop instead of real, honest connection.

As I went back and tried to figure out why this funnel that broke all the rules was working so fucking well, I realized it’s because I threw out all the manufactured crap with the tactics I didn’t like — because it didn’t feel like me. 

Instead, I realized that I was leaning into four messaging buckets that created more connection, more intimacy, and more people getting on calls with me saying, “I feel like I already know you. How do I pay you? Oh and while we’re at it, how can I be your best friend?” 

The four messaging buckets are:

  1. Credibility
  2. Vulnerability
  3. Personality
  4. and Feel Good

When I started sharing stories about myself, my business, and my life in these four categories, something magical happened: people actually started to know, like, and trust me.

People show up to “sales” calls now wanting to talk about my cats, where I was recently on vacation, and the charity I donate to — and the “sales” part of the call is just logistics about when and where we can start. 

The “trick” is that it has to be real. No more manufactured unicorn shit. No more overhyped rags to riches stories. No more cutesy personality pieces.

Real. Extra. Raw as fuck. 

That’s what was getting results.

“So… How do I do this for my agency??”

If you’ve gotten this far in this article, it’s because you’re desperate for something different.

You’re out there trying all this shit that the bro marketers and master manipulators say you have to do to attract and close more high ticket customers.

And you fucking hate it because it’s not fun, it’s not real, and it feels totally inauthentic.

So you’re sitting here thinking, “Is it me? Am I just not cut out to grow my business that big?”

And that’s BULLSHIT. I know, because I was doing the same thing. I wanted to be successful — I’m not scared of money or charging what I’m worth or earning more or any of that crap. But I didn’t want to do it in a way that felt gross. I didn’t want to hustle. I didn’t want it to all feel so hard.

I wanted it to be easy and fun, just like the rest of my life.

And when I leaned into that… Guess what?

It became easy and fun.

And it can be like that for you, too.
